Community Shield 'set to be played on August 29 and FA in talks with the government to allow supporters to watch the Wembley clash'

Wembley is set to host the Community Shield on Saturday, August 29 and fans could be allowed in to watch the match.

Premier League champions Liverpool will face the winners of the FA Cup final between Arsenal or Chelsea.

The FA see the Community Shield as the perfect test opportunity to accelerate the return of fans, with the governing body poised to confirm the August 29 date, according to the Sun.

The FA are in talks with the government to allow supporters to watch the game.

They want the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to give the green light to the Community Shield being the maiden test event involving football, which would allow a reduced capacity of around 15,000-20,000 to be present while observing social distancing guidelines.
