Chelsea's Marcos Alonso says Barcelona showed interest in summer

Marcos Alonso says Barcelona enquired about signing him from Fiorentina but told IBTimesUK he "did not think twice" about joining Chelsea when the Premier League side made their approach.

Chelsea signed Alonso from Fiorentina in a deal worth around £23 million at the end of August, and the Spaniard has gone on to establish himself as a key contributor since head coach Antonio Conte decided to switch to a 3-4-3 system in September, registering four goals and two assists.

Barcelona were reported to have expressed an interest in signing Alonso -- whose father played for the club in the 1980s -- before signing Lucas Digne from Paris Saint-Germain, but the 26-year-old said that he only began to consider leaving Serie A when he found out Chelsea wanted him.
