Chelsea tried to 'repair their relationship' with Mino Raiola in an attempt to sign Erling Haaland

Chelsea have landed £98m man Romelu Lukaku but that was not before casting their eyes elsewhere with Erling Haaland their No 1 target this summer.

The Borussia Dortmund forward was of high interest to the Champions League winners yet with the German club unwilling to sell this summer, a deal never materialised.

As told in The Athletic, Chelsea were keen on the 21-year-old - and were offered Robert Lewandowski by his agent - before landing on Lukaku, who was also an option from the start as Thomas Tuchel looked to strengthen up front.
