Chelsea supporters have been urged by the Government to refrain from chorusing their support for Roman Abramovich during Sunday's Premier League match against Newcastle.
Fans chanted Abramovich’s name during Chelsea’s win at Norwich on Thursday, the same day his UK assets were frozen due to his close links to Vladimir Putin.
‘I understand why Chelsea fans have some affection for him,’ said technology minister Chris Philp.
‘But the regime he is associated with is committing atrocities more important than football.
So I would ask them to think very carefully before doing that again.
