Atletico Madrid's president admits the club tried to engineer a move to bring back Diego Costa in the summer - but claimed it was 'impossible' to get the deal done.
Costa was sold to Chelsea in 2014 for £32million after a 36-goal season for Diego Simeone's side.
The striker spent four seasons at Atletico during his second spell with the team and had established himself as one of the world's best forwards prior to his move - winning La Liga in his final year.
And Atletico's president Enrique Cerezo admitted the club were keen to bring the Spain international back to the club - only to be thwarted by his current employees.
