Chelsea are interested in signing Alessandro Florenzi from Roma this summer, according to reports.
Florenzi, the Italy international, has spent his entire career with Roma except for a one-year loan spell at Crotone. He is viewed as a potential captain of the future for the Giallorossi, but he is demanding a payrise to make him one of the club’s higher earners.
Roma have struggled to agree to these terms, and Gazzetta dello Sport say Chelsea have shown an interest in Florenzi through intermediaries.
No formal offer has been submitted to Roma for the versatile 27-year-old, who can play at both right-back and right midfield, but Chelsea will be following Florenzi’s contract situation with keen interest as they consider whether to make an official approach.
