Chelsea have been fined more than £8.5million by UEFA for breaking Financial Fair Play rules under previous owner Roman Abramovich.
UEFA announced last night that Chelsea submitted ‘incomplete financial information’ between 2012 and 2019 while Abramovich was still at the helm.
New owner Todd Boehly alerted UEFA to the discrepancies in the accounts following his takeover of the club in May 2022 after the government forced Abramovich to sell Chelsea because of his links to Vladimir Putin.
Chelsea will face no further punishment beyond the €10m (£8.6m) fine, though the Premier League are expected to conduct their own investigations into the breaches.
