Chelsea's efforts to solve their left-back crisis have seen them have a £3m compensation offer to bring their own player back to Stamford Bridge rejected.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea offered Lyon the money to cut Emerson's season-long loan with the French club in January, but they refused to accept the terms.
It comes after Ben Chilwell was ruled out for the season due to an ACL injury.

The 27-year-old Italy international Emerson was signed by Chelsea in 2018 from Roma for a fee in the region of £20m.
