Chelsea finally agree a British record £105m deal to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, with Blues co-owner Behdad Eghbali key in pushing move over the line

Chelsea have agreed a staggering British transfer record £105million move for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Contracts are being signed now, with a private jet ready to fly the new signing to London.

The deal went down to the last minutes of the 11pm transfer deadline as they spent the final hours locked in talks with Benfica over the huge deal for Argentina international Fernandez.

As the clock ticked, Chelsea, who sold midfielder Jorginho to Premier League leaders Arsenal, finally closed in on sealing the mega-money deal as Chelsea’s co-controlling owner Behdad Eghbali led negotiations for the World Cup winner with Benfica from London.
