Chelsea condemn 'inappropriate and and hateful chanting' heard at Stamford Bridge during Liverpool clash while the Premier League offer own response to 'tragedy' songs

Chelsea have condemned 'inappropriate chants' after songs related to the Hillsborough disaster were heard at Stamford Bridge.

The chants heard marred what had been a significant day at Chelsea, following the sacking of Graham Potter on Sunday, with interim Bruno Saltor taking charge of the team for the first time.

However, chants mocking the Hillsborough disaster could be audibly heard throughout the clash. A statement was released shortly after the final whistle castigating those sections of the ground from which the chants were heard.

'Chelsea FC condemns the inappropriate chants heard from some home fans during this evening’s game,' the statement read.
