As Chelsea continue to try and acquire another midfielder, MailSport can now reveal why they softened their pursuit of Leeds United star Tyler Adams.

According to a source, the Blues were concerned that Adams' recovery from a hamstring injury may be longer than expected.

The source says tests completed by Chelsea revealed that the American star's recovery may require another four months - and that led to the club's decision to back away.

Adams suffered the injury towards the end of the previous season - which inevitably ended with Leeds United being relegated.
