Wednesday's announcement by Chelsea that assistant first team coach Steve Holland will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season to take on the same role with England came as no surprise.
With Gareth Southgate, whom Holland had assisted managing the England Under-21s since August 2013, confirmed as the successor to Sam Allardyce, it was a logical for Southgate to maintain their three-year partnership at senior level.
Holland joined Chelsea as reserve team manager in 2009 and having won the Reserve Premier League in 2011, was promoted to assistant first team coach following the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas.
