Aston Villa chairman Tony Xia has dropped a hint that they are have agreed their first summer transfer deal with John Terry widely expected to join the Championship club.

The 36-year-old will officially become a free agent on Saturday with his Chelsea contract set to expire when the clock strikes midnight.

And Xia hinted at an imminent announcement as he tweeted a simple message showing emoticons of a hand holding a pen and hands clapping alongside the popular #UTV hastag, meaning 'Up The Viia'.

Terry has been enjoying a summer break in Portugal but has regularly posted pictures of his intense workouts after deciding to carry on with his career away from Stamford Bridge.
