Andriy Shevchenko has thanked the United Kingdom for their support of his country while stating that the UEFA Euro qualifying match between England and Ukraine is about more than football.
The former Chelsea forward was born in the village of Dvirkivshchyna and has been vocal since Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking on England's clash against Ukraine at Wembley on Sunday, Shevchenko told Channel 4: 'It's very difficult and special. It's about more than football.
'For me to be here today representing my country, I want to say thank you to the UK for the support.
