AC Milan pull out of race to sign Real Madrid's James Rodriguez in transfer boost for Chelsea and Manchester United

AC Milan have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez leaving Chelsea and Manchester United free to battle it out for his signature.

The Colombian arrived at Madrid in a marquee £65million deal from Monaco following an impressive showing at the 2014 World Cup.

Rodriguez was originally one of the first names on the team sheet at the Bernabeu but has plummeted down the pecking order since Zinedine Zidane took over as manager of the Spanish giants.

The midfield man didn’t even make the matchday squad for the Champions League final against Juventus and it seems clear that his future lies away from Madrid if he wants to play regularly.
