Why the Charlotte Hornets Did Not Play to Their Potential Under Steve Clifford

There are three main responsibilities of a coach. One of them is implementing an effective system that your players buy into and abide by. Another is in-game coaching – keeping the team focused on the gameplan (or adapting it) and designing/calling plays for the team to aid in the efficiency of the offense. The most overlooked and equally important responsibility is rotation management.

Not all was bad during the Clifford-era in Charlotte

Under his five-year command, he coached the Hornets/Bobcats to the playoffs twice and almost knocked out the Miami Heat in that electric seven-game 1st round series in 2016 – the first playoff appearance by the Charlotte Hornets in 14 seasons.
