Eddie Jordan, formerly a head coach with three NBA franchises, is close to joining the Charlotte Hornets as an assistant to Steve Clifford, the Observer has learned.
The Hornets are finalizing a contract for Jordan, an NBA source said. Jordan would fill the role formerly held by Bob Weiss, who recently joined the staff of the Denver Nuggets.
Jordan coached the Sacramento Kings (1996-98), Washington Wizards (2003-08) and Philadelphia 76ers (2009-10). Jordan was 257-343 in those jobs, coaching four playoff appearances with the Wizards.
Jordan was also lead assistant to Byron Scott with the New Jersey Nets from 1999 through 2003.
