Basketball great Michael Jordan further established his legacy as a cultural icon as The Last Dance picked up an Emmy Award for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series at Saturday’s Creative Arts Emmys. It’s the first win in the category for sports media giant ESPN after three previous nominations and the company’s sixth overall Primetime Emmy. The doc beat out several strong contenders including Netflix’s Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, Hulu’s Hillary, PBS’ American Masters, and HBO’s McMillion$. This year’s category was particularly competitive, with many projecting a victory for Tiger King, which was a hit for the streaming service.
