Road warriors: Phoenix Suns remain NBA's top road team after OT win over Charlotte Hornets

Phoenix Suns needed an extra five minutes to finally upend the pesky Charlotte Hornets, 101-97, Sunday afternoon to go 3-1 on their four-game road trip.

With an NBA-best 16-6 road record, Phoenix (31-14) will begin a three-game homestand Tuesday against Atlanta at Phoenix Suns Arena.

Suns All-Star Devin Booker scored a game-high 35 points Sunday, going 11-of-12 from the line in leading Phoenix's 25-of-29 free-throw effort.

The Suns won in overtime despite shooting a dreadful 8-of-40 from 3 (35.4% overall field goal percentage) and committing 14 turnovers that led to 21 Charlotte points.

Fellow All-Star Chris Paul added 16 points, Deandre Ayton posted his 23rd double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds while Mikal Bridges chipped in 13 points, eight rebounds, a career-best six steals, four assists and a blocked shot.
