NBA PA announcer, Pocomoke alum and UMES Hall of Famer Pat Doughty dies at age 55

Patrick Doughty, an Eastern Shore native who was an NBA public address announcer for the Charlotte Hornets and at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, has died at the age of 55, the Hornets announced on Wednesday.

Doughty was the Hornets' PA announcer for 20 years, first starting off during their inaugural season in 2004 when they were the Charlotte Bobcats.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Pat Doughty, our beloved PA announcer for nearly 20 seasons," the Hornets said in a statement on Wednesday.
