The Charlotte Hornets announced on twitter than Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, selected number two overall in the 2012 NBA draft, will be representing the Hornets at the May 19th NBA draft lottery.
When Kidd-Gilchrist was taken, he was the highest draft selection the Hornets had taken since picking Emeka Okafor(also #2 overall) in 2004, and only the selection of Larry Johnson(#1 overall pick) in 1991 was higher in any draft in Charlotte’s franchise history.
The Hornets have picked in the draft lottery an astounding nine times in the last ten years, including five top five selections(Okafor #2, Raymond Felton #5, Adam Morrison #3, Kidd-Gilchrist #2, Cody Zeller #4).
