Lakers might part with rookie sensation for Hornets' high-risk $260 million star

If the Los Angeles Lakers find an All-Star lead guard to run the show, their ceiling would unquestionably skyrocket.

The organization should consider pursuing a Charlotte Hornets phenomenon during the trade season.

“With the team (Hornets) at 7-27 and seemingly going nowhere, (LaMelo) Ball will be featured in several mock trades, although none of them are likely to happen,” Sports Illustrated’s Schuyler Callihan wrote Tuesday.

“Our colleagues at Los Angeles Lakers On SI recently put a mock trade together featuring Ball, and I have some thoughts on it (Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent, Dalton Knecht, a 2029 first-round draft pick, a 2030 first-round draft pick swap, and a 2031 first-round draft pick to the Hornets for Ball).
