“Perhaps the Celtics didn’t overpay Marcus Smart after all?”
That seems to be the consensus NBA Twitter seemingly reached Thursday in light of the new contract Terry Rozier agreed to agreed to sign with the Charlotte Hornets. The contract extension Smart reportedly agreed to sign with the Celtics will pay him $77 million over four years, and Rozier’s reportedly will pay him $97 million over four years.
So have the Celtics secured a better deal with Smart than the Hornets have with Rozier? NBA Twitter seems to believe Smart’s contract compares favorably with Rozier’s.
Rozier joined the Hornets from the Celtics in 2019 in a sign-and-trade.
