Projected to win only 18 1/2 games during this rebuilding season, the suddenly surging Brooklyn Nets told the NBA experts and oddsmakers what they could do with that total with a game to go before the All-Star break.
“So shout out to the experts,” Nets point forward Trendon Watford said with a grin after Brooklyn snatched win No. 19 with Monday night’s 97-89 victory over the Charlotte Hornets in front of 16,013 satisfied customers on the corner of Atlantic and Flatbush.
Nic Claxton paced six Nets in double figures in scoring with 16 points as Brooklyn (19-34) won for the fifth time in six games since a season-high seven-game slide appeared to end any hope of a competitive campaign.
