For some teams, the NBA draft can play an integral role in building up a franchise, and draft picks are valuable commodities never meant to be sent away. Other organizations, however, tend to treat their draft approach like a game of hot potato, sending picks away and re-acquiring them at will.
In recent years, the Miami Heat have fallen into the latter category, trading away numerous first-round selections over the last decade in exchange for pieces meant to help them remain playoff contenders.
