The Detroit Pistons passed their first test without Jaden Ivey.
They defeated the Charlotte Hornets at Little Caesars Arena, 98-94, in their first game since Ivey underwent surgery Thursday morning to repair a broken left fibula. Ivey will be gone for at least a month, with the Pistons setting a re-evaluation window of four weeks. Simone Fontecchio (personal reasons) also missed his second straight game.
With 19.3 seconds remaining in the game, Cade Cunningham split a trip at the line to give the Pistons a three-point cushion, 97-94. An ensuing clutch block by Jalen Duren on Hornets wing Josh Green helped them close out the win.
