When you’re assembling an NBA roster, there are some simple boundaries. You’re allowed to have up to 15 core players, along with a couple of two-way contract slots. The Charlotte Hornets decided to keep a roster spot open going into the season, and now could be the time to fill it.

You can understand why General Manager Mitch Kupchak decided to keep a roster spot open going into the season. It’s not rare at all, as teams like to have some flexibility and have a spot open in case an impact player hits the buyout market, or anything like that.
