According to Rick Bonnell and Steve Martin, Perry Ellis “did some 5 on 5 work” during practice. The big man has yet to appear in an exhibition game with the Charlotte Hornets during the preseason but this is a positive sign. Perry has been recovering from sports hernia surgery that he had on August 30th.
The Hornets knew about the injury and surgery when they signed Ellis near the beginning of September. The surgery would keep the former Kansas Jayhawks’ player sidelined for three to four weeks. After passing that timetable, it is now around the time that he is expected to return to action.
