Former Kansas Jayhawk standout Perry Ellis has been invited to the Charlotte Hornets preseason training camp, according to Gary Bedore of the Kansas City Star.
Ellis, who just underwent successful sports hernia surgery on Tuesday, will be out three to four weeks, which shouldn't interfere with the start of training camp.
Going undrafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, Ellis is a 6-foot-8 forward who averaged 16.9 points a game as a senior last season for Kansas. More recently, Ellis averaged five points and 2.8 rebounds per game for the Dallas Mavericks in the Las Vegas Summer League.
