CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Longtime Charlotte Hornets announcer Patrick Doughty, lovingly known as Big Pat, has died, the team reported Wednesday.
The Hornets on July 24 confirmed the death of Big Pat, who served as the team’s PA announcer for 18 years, or nearly 20 seasons. The beloved announcer -- whose recognizable voice boomed through the Spectrum Center -- was said to be dealing with health issues.
“Big Pat’s vibrant voice was the backbone of our game experience and energized Spectrum Center every night. He was dedicated to our team and our fans, even as he fought health issues in recent years.
