Cavaliers officially sign South Sudan Olympian

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially signed forward JT Thor to a Two-way contract on Monday.

Thor spent last season with the Charlotte Hornets. He appeared in 63 games with three starts, averaging 3.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Overall, Thor has spent three seasons with the Hornets from 2021-24. He has appeared in 165 games.

Thor was originally selected with the 37th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons out of Auburn.

He recently participated in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as a member of the South Sudan men’s national basketball team, marking the nation’s first-ever appearance in basketball at the Olympics.
