ORLANDO — The Detroit Pistons received a scare on Thursday when Cade Cunningham, after a hard fall, was ruled out of overtime against the Charlotte Hornets with what the team called a left hip injury.
Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff declined to offer an update on Cunningham after the team's practice at Kia Center Friday, and his status is in the air going into their Saturday night road game against the Magic.
With 48.8 seconds left in the fourth on Thursday, Cunningham drove to the rim, drew contact and fell on his back. He grabbed his tailbone as he rolled onto his stomach, before eventually getting up to knock down a pair of free throws to give the Pistons the lead, 109-107.
