Charlotte had been trying to trade out of the first round to create more cap space so they can re-sign their own free agents this summer. However, they were looking to include either Jeremy Lamb or Spencer Hawes' contract in the deal, which they weren't able to do.
For Sacramento, this gives them two first-round picks. They also have the No. 8 overall pick.
Belinelli averaged 10.2 points on 38.6 percent shooting last season.
