In tonight's Hornets news update, the new-look Charlotte Hornets look to be extremely active when it comes to acquiring personnel this offseason - with the latest set of rumors linking them to a possible deal for the Utah Jazz's Gordon Hayward.
Per Evan Massey of SportsGlory.com, "according to Rick Bonnell and Ben Weinrib of The Charlotte Observer, the Hornets are expected to make a run at Hayward, and they believe that he can add the much needed relief in scoring for Al Jefferson and Kemba Walker."
Adding Hayward could be a very productive move for the Hornets. Rather than being forced to assume a shoot-first role in Charlotte, Hayward could go back to playing a more balanced game between facilitating and scoring - a role where he could be extremely effective for the Hornets.
Hayward started in 77 contests for the Utah Jazz last season, posting 16.2 points, 5.2 assists, and 5.1 rebounds per game. While he might not be a lights-out offensive machine every night, he could very well be a big piece to the Charlotte puzzle if they decide to look his way.
