CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte and WKU went back-and-forth until two runs in the top of the seventh proved to be the difference as the Hilltoppers avoided the sweep with a 9-8 win on Sunday afternoon.
WKU (21-26, 11-13 C-USA) needed just eight pitches on Sunday to crack the scoreboard as Luke Brown and Steven Kraft opened with back-to-back singles. Jacob Rhinesmith followed with a RBI double to left-center for the 1-0 lead. Colie Currie followed two batters later with a groundout to short plating Kraft with the second run.
Charlotte (27-20, 13-11) came right back to get one run back after Reece Hampton led off with a double smoked to left-center.
