CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Opening weekend came to a close for the Charlotte volleyball with a 3-1 (25-12, 25-16, 20-25, 25-17) victory over USC Upstate followed by a heartbreaking 3-2 (25-15, 26-24, 19-25, 19-25, 9-15) loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday night. For her weekend efforts, Yumi Garcia was named to the all-tournament team. Saturday night's crowd of 1,411 fans is now the 10th-largest crowd all-time in program history.
"It was a packed house," began Head Coach Karen Weatherington. "That's crazy for opening weekend. We usually get these crowds for Dig Pink and it shows were on the map here on campus.
