BOCA RATON, Fla. – Another Conference USA match for the Charlotte 49ers resulted in a heartbreaking five-set defeat again. This one was the second 3-2 (20-25, 23-25, 25-13, 27-25, 8-15) loss to Florida Atlantic this season as the Owls held off a ferocious comeback by the Niners. As in their first meeting of the year, the script flipped as Charlotte faced a 2-0 deficit on Sunday before rallying back to force the fifth.
Florida Atlantic (17-5, 7-2 C-USA) faced an earlier 6-4 deficit in the opening set after kills from Sofie Perrens, Jocelyn Stoner and Sydney Rowan.
