CHARLOTTE — knew what Charlotte was up against before the ball tipped on Monday.
The coach peered over at the Charleston Southern warm-up lines and marveled. Despite being winless entering Halton Arena, the visitors had energy and a lively back-and-forth with their coaches before they captured an inaugural win over the 49ers, 63-59.
A team with nothing to lose can often play the freest. But Charleston Southern brought immense effort with it, and the combination proved too much.
"I watched Charleston Southern and all week I've been saying they are a really scary team because they have nothing to lose," Reed said.
