CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte women's tennis will begin its quest for a Conference USA Championships crown at 9 a.m. Thursday when it meets Southern Miss in the tournament's opening round at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in Norfolk, Virginia. The 49ers enter the field as the No. 9 seed and the Golden Eagles are the No. 8 seed among the 14 schools competing in the event.
Charlotte has won three of its last five to carry an 8-12 overall record into the tournament and most recently competed last Wednesday at home against Campbell. Sophomore Pierina Imparato and freshman Rocio Safont top the squad with 11 triumphs in singles play, apiece.
