On Aug. 11, 2010, it was time to celebrate.
After three and a half years of meetings and votes and approvals, the Charlotte 49ers received the final go ahead in their quest to add football in 2013. That approval came in the form of Governor Beverly Perdue’s signature on the University Non-Appropriated Funding Bill. After recommendations from the Football Feasibility Committee and Chancellor Dr. Philip Dubois, green lights from the Board of Trustees and the Board of Governors, and positive votes from the House and Senate, the Governor’s signing, Aug. 3 was the final piece of the puzzle.
