Former Charlotte baseball pitcher and current MLB Umpire Fieldin Culbreth was a part of no-hitter history working the first of two no-hitters back on July 26, 2010. Culbreth was working first base at Tropicana Field when Tampa Bay's Matt Garza no-hit the Detroit Tigers in a 5-0 victory. The no-hitter is still the Rays' only one in franchise history. A little less than two years later, Culbreth was at second base when the Mets put together their first no-no thanks to Johan Santana shutting down the St. Louis Cardinals in July of 2012.

Culbreth worked his first MLB game in 1993 at second base when Seattle took on California in the Kingdome.
