This Week in History: 49ers beat defending national champions, runner up in men's basketball, soccer

This week in 49ers history, the 49ers defeated a pair of defending national champs as well as a defending runner-up, as men's basketball posted a memorable win at Syracuse and men's soccer rolled through the NCAA Tournament to the national championship game.

Starting on November 26, 2003, Brendan Plavich drained a school record 10 three-pointers at No. 7 Syracuse to help beat the defending national champions, 96-92. ESPN reported it was the first time in NCAA history that a defending national champion lost in the home opener following a national title run. This was also Charlotte's first ever top-10 road win in program history.
