CHARLOTTE, N.C. - 1991 was a year known as the Hankes' Marathon Season after pitcher Courtney Hankes hurled 330.1 innings in a possible 344.1 innings that season. She made 49 starts, pitched 46 complete games and claimed 24 wins on the year, highlighted by pitching six games in a row in the Furman Spring Fling on April 6-7, 1991. From 10 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. the next day, Hankes pitched 41 innings over 14.5 hours to win four games and be named the Furman Spring Fling's Most Outstanding Pitcher. She also earned a mention in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd article.
