May 14, 1981 - Former Charlotte 49ers standout Cedric Maxwell was named the NBA Finals MVP after helping the Boston Celtics defeat the Houston Rockets for the NBA Championship and the 14th NBA Title for the storied Boston Celtics franchise.
Maxwell averaged a team-leading 17.7 points per game while also averaging 9.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in the six games of the NBA Finals. Maxwell grabbed a team-leading 34 offensive rebounds in the series as well.
