The Charlotte 49ers weren’t supposed to be here.
According to the preseason Conference USA predictions, Charlotte would finish sixth. However with just days remaining in the regular season, the 49ers rest fourth and control their own destiny with a double-bye on the horizon.
But, just how did the 49ers arrive at this point?
Since day one, it’s always been about what Charlotte has done instead of the fortunes granted from other team’s mishaps.
“Coach mentioned [the preseason polls] but she also said it didn’t matter,” Amaya Ransom said. “We sort of used it as a chip on our shoulder because we knew we were better than sixth and no one knew what we had.
