CHARLOTTE, N.C. - With a 2017 Conference USA Tournament bid on the line, the Charlotte Softball team came through in the clutch to sweep Middle Tennessee, 7-6 and 8-6, in a Saturday doubleheader to punch their ticket to the dance in Hattiesburg, Miss. next week. The Niners missed the conference tournament in 2016, but Meredith Harris, Becca Shipper, Alison Green and others turned in some of the best performances of their careers to get ensure it didn't happen again.
The 49ers improved their overall record to 28-22 and their mark against C-USA opposition to 10-12 with the twin-bill victories, moving past Southern Miss (9-14 C-USA) for the final wild card spot.
