CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte softball team returns to action this week, heading to Boiling Springs, N.C., for a Tuesday twinbill against Gardner-Webb to begin a five-game road slate this week. The 49ers will face the Runnin’ Bulldogs at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Brinkley Softball Stadium.
The Niners are coming off a huge Saturday, knocking off No. 16 Kentucky 5-3, in large part thanks to a first-inning, first-pitch grand slam from freshman Meredith Harris. The win was the first victory over a ranked opponent since 2012 for Charlotte, and it was just UK’s second loss to a Group of Five school since 2008.
