The No. 19-ranked Charlotte 49ers men’s soccer team (2-0-0) cruised by the Rutgers Scarlett Knights 5-0 Sunday afternoon at Transamerica Field, using another shutout from their defense and two goals from sophomore defender Callum Montgomery.
After the victory, head coach Kevin Langan said, “Similarly to our last game, we were very dynamic offensively with guys playing for each other out there. Keeping a clean sheet was just as big today too because Rutgers is a good team.”
Charlotte wasted no time jumping out to a lead over Rutgers (0-3-0) in front of their home fans, scoring on a goal from Daniel Bruce in the seventh minute, his second goal of the season.
