CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte women’s soccer, under the direction of head coach John Cullen, announced in February the addition of nine players to its roster for the upcoming 2016 campaign. Since the class originally signed, the group has completed high school, prep and club careers in anticipation of officially joining the 49ers roster in less than two weeks.
Below is an alphabetical updated breakdown of what each of those players have done since signing in February and a list of the credentials they bring to the program.
Jamie Fankhauser
Named to the all-state squad by the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association … Earned 3A All-PACIS Conference Team honors … Tallied team highs of 11 goals and added three assists for 25 points … Three of her scores were game winners … Registered a hat trick on just five shots in a March 2016 triumph over Wake Christian Academy … Posted another hat trick on only six shots in March 2016 against Providence Grove HS … Assisted on a pair of scores against Greensboro Day School in April 2016 … Presented the High School Senior Excellence Award by the NSCAA … Tabbed as the MaxPreps Athlete of the Game in contests against Coastal Christian HS and Providence Grove HS … Became the first female from her high school to sign to play a Division I sport … Led her high school to its most wins in school history … Served as her team’s captain … Helped guide the Piedmont Triad FC club program to a 7-1-1 record … Squad reached the semifinals of the State Cup … Netted seven goals with five assists for 19 points … Added a game-winning goal … Played ODP her final year … Garnered a spot on the inter-regional, Region III and state ODP squads … Traveled with the inter-regional team to Argentina for games … Rewarded the Kenny Pott Memorial Scholarship … Helped coach the North Carolina Special Olympics team.
