DALLAS - For the second season in a row, the Charlotte 49ers indoor track and field team saw one of its student-athletes receive the Conference USA Winter Spirit of Service Award as Maya Singletary won the honor after her gold standard community service, athletics and academic efforts announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The award is given to a student-athlete from each C-USA school who has excelled athletically, academically and in the community.
"Maya cares about the community around her and stepped up by making the athletic department aware that there was a major need for our homeless population here in Charlotte," Executive Associate Athletic Director and SWA Ragean Hill said.
